I’m participating in the Science-a-thon (https://www.scienceathon.org/), a global effort by scientists to document their lives for 12 hours on one day with 12 photos. Photos are being posted on Twitter and Instagram to offer a glimpse into what a day in the life of a scientist looks like. I blogged about the project on my AGU blog, and the project is also raising funds to support the Earth Science Women’s Network (https://eswnonline.org/) (see my CrowdRise fundraising page).
Although the official day of the Science-a-thon is July 13th, I participated early! (scientists have the option to do so). You can check out my 12 tweets from my participation on June 22nd while I was in Maine, and please do click on the links in the tweets to my Instagram account to read a fuller description of my adventures for the day.
I’ve also summarized everything on Storify. [*note Storify platform no longer active] Please tune in to social media on July 13th to learn from other scientists with the hashtag #ScientistForADay – Enjoy!

[…] see the life of a scientist beyond the laboratory and fieldwork. I created a blog post about my Science-a-Thon adventures in Maine back in 2017, and I was looking forward to participating this year while at sea on the JOIDES Resolution. […]
