#FrontDoorScience continues with mini-quilts that call attention to species given protection by the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Each month, I'm swapping out the quilts and the science information supporting them. May is calling attention to bees. #DidYouKnow that the rusty patched bumblebee is the 1st and only bumblebee species native to the continental U.S. listed as endangered? The IUCN Red List has 18 species of bees as endangered and 9 as critically endangered.
One of my favorite photos I took on @joides_resolution last year was a sunset view from the stern of the ship. I took that sunset photo from the South Atlantic Ocean and shifted it to looking out at a daytime sky, filled with clouds, while standing on the red-colored deck behind the yellow railing.

I wasn't originally going to be making this quilt for my @joides_resolution #EXP390 quilt collection - but every geoscience project needs a location map, right?
Throwback to #maythefourth and #starwarsday on @joides_resolution in 2022! I brought one of my quilts and we had a vote for our favorite #StarWars character.
