VOTE (that’s it – that’s the quilt)

This quilt I generated pre-Election Day 2024. Since then, I’ve added this quilt as the first of a series of quilts I generated following the election. There were so many changes to laws, funding, access – especially related to my discipline and my research – that I used my sewing machine for Processing the PoliciesExplore the collection.

I wanted to create a Halloween-themed quilt for the front door of my house – but with nothing but election news flooding the media, appearing as texts on my phone, and living in Pennsylvania, it seemed like my door needed a different quilt topic. So on one day in early October, I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters, and then stitched them on this red/white/blue-striped fabric. This quilt was super-quick to put together, and I hope it wasn’t hard to miss! Importantly, I hope this simple message not only caught the eyes of all that passed by my house, but also was a motivator to get people out to vote.

The quilt measures 19 inches wide by 55 inches tall and was completed October 9, 2024.

This slideshow contains close-up photos of the quilt.
